McLean Funeral Directors Obituaries

Christine McLean - Yakima Herald-Republic

She was born on December 15, 1927 to Leo and Helen Bissell in Lebanon, Oregon. Christine graduated from St. Patrick’s School in 1944 and Aquinas Academy in 1946, both in Tacoma, and married Blair McLean in Tacoma on May 10, 1947. The couple moved to Yakima in July of 1951 with their first three children.Blessed with eight wonderful children, seventeen grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, Christine enjoyed playing games with family members and with a longtime Bridge foursome. Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes as well as shopping at estate and yard sales. (Her home testifies to that!) She was involved with women’s groups at both St. Paul Cathedral and Holy Family Parish as well as with Spirit Anew Prayer Group. While raising her children, Christine was a 4-H leader and a support to all of the activities that her children were involved in. Cannon Beach was her favorite place to visit. She hoped that heaven has an ocean.Christine was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Blair McLean, her parents, Leo and Helen Bissell, her brother, Robert Bissell, and her sister, Fran Olson. She is survived by her children, Sr. Rita Louise McLean, OSC of Spokane, John (Colleen) McLean of Mill Creek, WA, Nancy (John) Probst of Yakima, Sally (Dale) Freeman of Moscow, ID, James (Cindy) McLean of Yakima, Thomas (Debbie) McLean of Yakima, Mary (Gary) Gefre of Yakima, and Joan (Dan) Bushnell of Lake Stevens, WA, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Christine’s neighbors were special to her as she lived up to her motto “be a good neighbor to have good neighbors.”An informal vigil service will be held June 8, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home (500 Prospect, Moxee, WA 98936).
